In the 80´s and 90´s a new Public High School and Middle School were built. Carroll also has a community college campus, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
 Looking for fun? Carroll has something for everyone with recreational opportunities abound. If you enjoy golf, Carroll is the place to be. Carroll offers two 18 hole golf courses. The Carroll Municipal Course and Carroll Country Club Course.
Indoor recreation? Check out the Carroll Recreation Center with its Olympic size swimming pool, exercise room, theater including many programs & activities for children and adults alike. If you enjoy nature and the outdoors, then you will love Swan Lake State Park. This 510 acre facility is just one mile southeast of Carroll. Swan Lake also offers the new Conservation Education Center - a two level facility that features an auditorium. This center offers environmental and conservation classes for students & adults. Whiterock Conservancy & Resort located near Coon Rapids is a great place where people can interact with the environment through outdoor recreation and education.
